My hard disk just died with all data on it. Fortunately, I have backup of all important files. I am in dilemma now which one should be bought sata or ide hard disk. I dont know much about its performances and I will be very grateful to you if you told me which one is better (something about one, then about the other). I want to choose better one.

Both of them have its strengths and weaknesses. You will have to choose for yourself, I cant choose instead of you. SATA is speeder, thinner. On it you cant install windows ME or 98 OSs, win XP maynt have a drivers for its controller on motherboard, so when you installing XP you have to install the third party drivers including RAID. On the other hand, IDE is slower. When you take it in you have to set jumpers, air flow is stumbled blocked with large IDE cable.
