I have a problem with my Samsung 500GB HDD. I’ve heard that it is very good and reliable and that’s why I have bought it. But when I tried to transfer some of my music and moves I have discovered that I couldn’t store more than 120GB. You can only imagine how shocked and disappointed I was when I realized that. I’ll have it examined, but I’d like to hear your opinion about this issue.
You haven’t told us how the disk is partitioned and what other symptoms are. I very much doubt that your disk is damaged. I mean, there is no possibility that more than half a disk is in bad sectors, and even if it were you would still be able to se the whole storage capacity. I thin that the problem is in the fact that you have forgotten to partition other part of the disk. You probably just formatted the system partition and installed Windows on it, and after that you just wanted to proceed to organizing the free space on your disk forgetting to partition it. But it can easily be done if you click on My Computer icon and then select disk management. There you have the option to partition the unformatted part of the disk.
