SMC Barricade Router slows my connection

I have ADSL connection that is declare on 3.1 Mbps. I connect to internet over SMC Barricade Router and I think it is slowing down my connection. When I am connected over router I can not get more the 1.1 Mbps and when I connect computer directly to modem speed jumps to 2.4 Mbps. Do you know what the problem is with this router?

I can think only of two things. Either your router is broken or you need to upgrade firmware. Lets try with firmware upgrade first. Go to router manufacturer web site and download latest firmware update you can find. Take care that this firmware is for your router model exactly. On this site you will find step by step instructions on upgrading firmware. When you finish upgrading I hope that you will have normal speed. If this does not help then you can buy a new router.
