| The question is about loading XP on a SATA drive. My hard drive is not recognized as a primary master. I was using western digital till now and there were no problems. It wasnt the SATA, it was an IDE. So, are there any special adjustments with SATA drives, and how to set them? Western digital is still in my computer case working as a secondary master, maybe its something about that. BIOS say that both of my drives are working correctly. Is there a way to find out what are the SATA settings? |

| Well, its completely different with Serial ATA. On IDE everything was plug-and-play, so we didnt need to run BIOS and we certainly didnt need special drivers. On SATA thing are different. Drivers for your device must be loaded manually, and you must use SATA support. Use motherboards installation cd to find out about SATA support. Copy all files on the CD, and be sure to use root folder. Other wise, it wont be recognized. Turn on your system and when you see the message about RAID, press F6 to enter he settings menu. Then use cd on which you copied SATA files, and select your drive. When youre drivers are loaded, you can proceed with XP installation. From that point everything should be fine, except you will have to upgrade drivers. There is a support center for SATA users, and there you will see the latest settings about XP, as well as the best drivers. Good Luck! |
