Hi there folks. I am about to switch from the ADSL connection to the much faster cable internet connection in a few days. I am very concerned about firewall and antivirus protection therefore I really need some protection advices. Where should I start with changing the parameters for my router and which ports I should close in order to suffer no attack? Thanks in advance.

Well, hello. We had a lot of discussions on this subject so far. The most common and 99 default way to access your router is 192.168.1.1 IP address. Enter that in your web browser use admin for user name and password, and you are there. But, regarding the advanced settings for your router, the best for you would be to visit the site like portforward.com is, or something alike. There you will find any information needed for your router, based on the model name under manufacturer list on their web site.
