Router Antenna issue

I bought a notebook yesterday. When I was buying it, a salesperson told me that it has a wireless network card. I want to use wireless network connection to connect to my company network because my office is on the other floor. However, my wireless connection is not showing up. A friend told me that I maybe need to change my wireless router antenna.

If you are sure that you have a wireless network card then there are few things that can cause your problem. First question is did you install the network anyhow. If you did not then it is not a surprise that you cannot see your connection. The other thing that can cause your problem is that your wireless network card may be turned off. It could be turned off from the BIOS of your notebook. Some software that you installed also could turn it off accidentally. At last, you should check the drivers for your wireless network card. Your friend probably means that you have a bad signal in your office. If that is so, you can improve the wireless signal with external antenna.
