Reseting Password on wireless router

I can't log into my DSL account with the password and user name they provided. I was on the phone all day with tech support (mostly on hold) and it didn't really help they say I must've done something to change the password (which I didn't) and that my only option now would be to reset it manually. I tried that but it didn't work it still has some pass/username stored and keeps asking me for it. Anything else I should try before I return this piece of crap?

What router do you have, and how exactly did you try to reset it? Was there a small button in the back labeled "reset" which you pressed? If so, that's not enough. For most models you have to press and hold that button for half a minute, sometimes more. To be on the safe side, after doing that leave the router turned off for a few minutes, then turn it back on.
