| I have reinstalled my XP Professional operating system and, naturally, I wanted to defragment hard drive. I have used defrag.exe. But, totally unexpected, program stopped responding. I opened task manager and saw in processes that it use 100, but I couldnt terminate it. Is there any way to reinstall only this tool, not whole system? |

This is not very often error, but it happens. I have to disappoint you and tell you that you can not reinstall defrag.exe. But, dont worry, there is solution. You have to contact microsoft support, and they will send you hotfix. After you get it, apply it and start defragment.
I have to worn you not to give hotfix to other people with similar problem. With problem like this, you have to send full information to ms support. Same problems could have different causes.
