| Hi! My DVD burner finally died, so it looks like Ill have to buy a new one. Just to be sure that same thing doesnt happen again, I want your opinion about DVD burner issue. Which are the best devices today, and if you can describe them shortly. My previous DVD burner was Ricoch, so please dont mention it. What about those Plextors, people are telling that it is Hendrix among optical drives? I would prefer dual layer device and if its cheap enough, Lightscribe. Thanks! |

| Lets see! Plextor is good choice but it isnt the best until Pioneer showed up. There is a Teac DV series, which can write with 16x speed on regular devices. If youre talking about double layer medias, speed is approximately 2x. Sorry! Its m3 compliant so dont worry about compatibility issue. Then you have Philips 228. Some people that I know say that is the absolute star in the DVD burners world. It has very nice design, black case, and even remote. Can you imagine this? Its writing speed is 16x, and I dont know about dual layer options. You get the free copy of Nero 7 as well and one dual layer DVD. Lightscribe has nothing to do with optical devices. I mean, it is built-in printing feature, and the only device with this is HP. Its very expensive, so forget about it. |
