Im planning to make a small wireless network inside of my house. House has a 2 floors and signal should cover most of the house. Im also planning to connect my xbox and playstation 3 to the network. And if possible even more pcs so I can make my LAN parties. I would like your opinions about the equipment that u use and maybe some advices on maximizing speed. I heard that all kind of devices can slow down connection, wireless controllers, microwaves etc. Is this try ? and how can it be avoided?

Seems that your are planning to have lots of fun there, which is good thing. Just you have to consider that wireless networks are not best solutions for LAN parties. Also connecting many devices may slow down connection because wireless connection is shared between them. I would suggest that you stick to the wired connection for a gaming purposes, and make a wireless connection just for your laptop. This is not hard to do and will give you mobility to even go outside your house with it.
Devices that can slow down your connection like you mentioned microwave, wireless controllers and also wireless phones are not so much important. Although microwave is working at the same frequency 2.4 GHz and can cause interference. 802.11g specification are working on 5GHz so if you are want u can use it and avoid all possible problems.
For a router I would suggest Dell 2350 WLAN router, but probably here will have another choice. Im very satisfied with mine and its serving me well for almost a year. Also another fine model with 802.11g specification you should consider is Netgear DG384G.
