| I'm suddenly seeing this error message (RPC server unavailable, error during install) even though the printer was working OK until just the other day. This isn't my computer that I'm currently using, so I'm not sure what internal settings it has set to what. It's XP, BTW. I've checked and file and printer sharing was on, just in case that's important. |

Well, it might be important in case you're experiencing difficulties accessing the printer via a network connection. Are you? Or is the printer itself malfunctioning?
To make sure that RPC is turned on, go to the start menu, click Run, and then enter the following, minus the quotes: "net start rpcss" |
