| I finally set up my own wireless network. How to prevent other people to have access? By the way my Linksys wireless router has option to limit amount of data. OS that I am using is windows server 2003, and it offers me some password protection options, but thats just not safe enough for me. Is there an application for this kind of issues, what is its name? Wireless network is build for no special purposes, playing games, sharing movies, e-chatingAre there any Linksys users? How to set up my router so it works faster? |

| Use WAP security, because each new user will have password screen. Then, he will have to type password in if he wants to access your wireless network. Also, use 128 bit encryption for the maximum safety. Default value for Linksys is 64, which is not safe enough. So, every time you log on, it will start. What is the size of your wireless network? Some time, if the network is big enough, outside users can access your system easily. I mean, you would have to get them physically removed, which is silly. What about your Linksys settings? Are you using its protection? Go to their site and you will find very precise information about this issue. Turn off broadcasting, and if you want, set up MAC filtering. MAC filtering is the safest method to protect your network, because it protects you on the physical level. |
