I need some help with my motherboard BIOS update. I downloaded the update from the Internet. The file was compressed in ZIP format. I have Microsoft Windows XP installed on my computer for a long time and everything works fine until now. However, when I try to open downloaded file and install it I get an error message and now I cannot keep settings of HDD in BIOS. I do not know what is wrong. Can anybody help me?

There are several reasons that could cause problem like yours. First, it could be an error in the process of downloading and your ZIP file might be damaged. You could try to download it one more time and than try to open it again. Second, you might not have a proper version of BIOS for your version of motherboard. Your version of BIOS update could be for some other version of motherboard. In that case, you have to find and download a proper version for your version of motherboard. Third reason for your problem could be that your BIOS update may need some other stuff to be installed first. If that is your problem, you need to find out what are those things, download and install them.
