| Hello people! I need some quick info about the external hard drive, thinking of buying one soon. Not quite sure what model, maybe Western digital or Maxtor maybe? Actually I have no idea what to buy that is first issue. Why the size of the HDD matters? Can I backup files with some software that will give me one button option, so I don’t bug myself much will I miss or mess up something? Because some of them are wrapped in cheap material and not having any cooling system, how long can they work and not to get overheated? I probably skipped some questions, so if I did just bring me as much info as you can so I could make a right move and purchase the best one, if there is a best one among all those names that mean absolutely nothing to me as being the complete ignorant in the computers matter. |

| One thing to purchase and too many questions, heh. But then again no shame asking if you don’t know something, always has been my motto Just not sure am I the right person for spreading info on this matter. You missed to ask the standard issue that bugged me: should external drive be plugged all the time or shut down when it’s not in use? All I heard is that with most of them you are getting some manual how to use it and driver that comes with them, about cheaper ones not sure how cheap their manufacturers could be, but honestly I don’t think they can be overheated, meaning they are surrounded by constant air flow all the time, nothing putting the borders around them, like PC case does to a regular drive. |
