Question about FTP server

Hello! I have heard for expression FTP server. To be honest with you only what I understand here is server. But, I cannot figure out what FTP server is. MY friend asked his older brother, but he told him something which we cannot understand. So, we are kindly asking you to explain us this term. Thank you in advance!

Hello! I will try to explain you this. First, FTP means File Transfer Protocol. This protocol is used for exchanging files all over the internet. FTP server is HTML software which runs mentioned protocol. So, using FTP server you can download files from it or upload them to it. I hope you have understood me.
