| Hello. I have heard that windows XP uses few system folders for storing of cached data, for later purpose. Maybe for improving some performance. One of them is so called Prefetch folder. And there is a temp folder. Like temporary. So if there is a temp, than why prefetch? Isnt that the same thing, why are they divided into two different folders? |

| HI there. They are not divided, but made separated for different purposes. The purpose of the temp folder is to store all data you use on your PC. Some sort of data cache technology, like Temporary Internet Files folder for cache of every page you have visited, just because of performance improving. The prefetch folder is limited for only 128 files inside and no more. It caches used .dll services which are needed for faster launching of some applications that you use more often. If you go inside the prefetch folder and delete all inside of it, it will slow down some applications at start up, but will increase the boot up speed of your computer. |
