At work I have SuSE linux server as a file, print and mail server. Other computers are running XP Pro and are connecting to SuSE server for file sharing between other things. Thats where my problem lies. One user constantly gets an Access denied message when trying to access his folder on server. I have looked to it but everything in Samba configuration looks fine. Others dont experience any problems. Any clues?
Well, there are a few things you will have to check. Make sure folder your user is trying to connect to is owned by correct samba user and that the directory has correct read write permissions for that user. Next you will want to see if smbusers is mapping the real Linux usernames or look at /var/log/samba to see if the user trying to connect is the one samba expects. Maybe the username/password on his computer differs from his samba username/password?
