For days Im trying to set up network between my desktop and lap top. Always something is not ok. I tried to set up pear 2 pear network, because everybody told me that is the easiest network configuration. Im giving up now! tell me what the easiest way for my problem is?

Please, dont give up. The easiest way for configuring and setting up the network is wireless router. Lap top has wireless network card, so you dont need cable. You can, also buy wireless network card for your desktop. Router will be access point for both computers. You just need to configure router and, after that, share folders or devices.
I have this home network and Im very satisfied.
