I am running Tiger 10.3.4 on iMac. When I try to watch some movies in VLC or QuickTime I get an error saying that codec wmv3 is missing. Can you tell me where can I find that codec and how to install it? I really, really want to watch that movies.

You are obviously missing wmv3 codec which is Windows Media codec. Easiest way is to go on Microsoft site, download Windows Media Player for Mac and install it. With Windows Media comes that missing codec. If you are getting trouble with sound you ca go to Application/Utilities folder and run Audio MIDI setup. Here you have to change audio output settings on 44100.0 Hz and 2ch-16 bit. This is because you mentioned VLC which has an odd habit of changing these settings.
