I am experiencing frequent program crashing and computer misbehavior. Computer sometimes freezes or reboots. I was not able to see any pattern in this. A friend told me that I have a possible memory issue. Before I buy new memory modules I would like to hear your opinion about this question.

These symptoms can be caused by memory issues, but they can mean a lot of other things. The best approach I can suggest you is trial and error. Unplug memory modules (leave just one inside) and power on the computer. Work for a while and see how computer and programs are behaving. Then change module and repeat procedure. This is the only way to find out if you really have some problems with memory.
