I can't see the other computer on the network with my firewall on. If I disable it, it works OK, but if it's working, I can't even ping it, I just get the "network path not found" message. Shouldn't Zone Alarm (I'm using Pro) prompt me when some new "risk" crops up, instead of just blocking all access to it? Could someone explain to me how to configure the damn thing so that it still protects form outside threats, but doesn't regulate internal traffic? TIA.

Sure, you just need to let ZA know what IPs it can trust (the ones on your internal LAN), and let it keep blocking external ones by default. From the main window, you go to "Firewall", and then to "Advanced". There you should see a field that lets you specify IP numbers (ranges, usually) that are treated as belonging to the "Trusted Zone". Just add the ones you need, and you'll be all set.
