What is phishing? A friend of mine has been accused of it and I have no idea what he could have been doing. He claims that he is innocent but I’ve seen numerous books on hacking in his room and I suppose that this phishing thing has something to do with that. What do you think about that? I’d like to trust him, but for some reason I have my doubts.

Ouch! I hope that your “friend” is not your boyfriend, because he’s in for a bumpy ride. The chances are great that if he’s guilty he’ll end up in jail on a couple of years, depending on the damage he has made. Phishing is the term coined to refer to illegal actions of acquiring information about somebody else’s credit card username and password in order to steal money from his account and transfer it to your own. The victims of those attacks are usually found via eBay or similar online banks and shopping sites. So, basically, your friend is a cyber robber! So, if I were you, I’d stay out of him if it turns out that he has really been phishing.
