I received an e-mail from a friend containing a password protected word document. I am qiute sure that I can guess the password ( I got some clues in the same e-mail, it’s a kind of a game we’re playing) but I don’t know where to type it in. I thought that, when I try to open it, a window prompting me for a pass would appear but it didn't. Instead of it I just get some message that says that the document is password protected and I cannot open it. It's not a matter of l&d but I'd really like to open this document soon so if anyone is able to help me I'd be most grateful.
I've both sent and received a lot of pass protected documents in my life and I never had such a problem. You are right in assuming that the password prompt should appear. The only thing that comes to my mind is that the file is corrupt. Maybe something happened to the file while downloading it of the internet. Your friend could post that e-mail again. And perhaps he could send it in a password protected zip file instead of making a password protected word document - maybe there is some kind of problem with making pass protected documents in his version of Word. Or his and yours versions might be in some kind of conflict. I can't think of anything else right now but I hope this will help.
