Well, hello guys. The time has come for a brand new PC in my home. It will be a power gaming machine. I want to make sure that it will be perfectly set up from the start including the simplest things. Which also means that I need advice on how should I divide my 250 gb hard drive. What is the best practice for partitioning? Thanks.

Hi there. The best practice? The best practice is to format the partitions for the first time, without any other software but with XP Pro or Home CD. Consider that windows takes about 3,5 gb of your root partition, for the standard and default files and folders, including virtual page file. I think you dont need more than two partitions. Leave about 200 gigs for secondary partition, and everything else for the root. Yes, around 30-40 gigs for the root partition. And do the full format with the index structure check. Dont use FAT32, thats my advice.
