Hi. I would like to install Ubuntu Linux distribution besides existing Windows XP professional operating system. I am aware that I would need to create separate partition for Linux but I do not know how to do this. I have heard about Partition Magic as recommended program for creating partitions but I have also about some other tools (integrated into Windows and Linux) that can be used for partitioning. I am confused about this and I would like you to clarify this to me.
Hello. Partition magic can be used for partitioning as you have heard. It is the best tool for that job but it is commercial. There are some other tools like fdisk , but this tool is command line tool and not so easy to use. If you have option then use Partition Magic. Command line tools are for more experienced users and you can make some serious trouble if you make a mistake.
