I am running Windows 2000 Professional and I have only one partition on my hard drive. I tried to use Partition Magic 7.0 to create another partition but when I restart computer I receive error #27 (could not lock the C: drive). Is there some way to fix this error because partition magic changes are pending and I fear it could ruin my hard drive?

Partition Magic 7.0 uses LOCK command which works only in safe mode for some Windows operating systems. When Partition Magic prompts you to restart computer do it and then keep pressing F8 to boot into Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Partition Magic will be able to finish its job and you will not receive this error any more.
