My PC was running on Windows 98 with FAT32, and I booted up the Windows XP installation. I selected to format the HDD to NTFS, but now it is not working. The format passed very quickly, and all the installation files were copied correctly. But, when the computer restarted, the installation is not continuing on. It just doesnt work. Did the installation screw the HDD and my PC up? Did the conversion from FAT32 to NTFS somehow kill my PC?

This is very strange. I never heard that this could happen with the format process. Im a owner of computer show, and I repaired thousand of computers. But, I never even imagined this kind of weird thing can is possible. I dont know where to start thinking. Sorry, mate, Im not able to help you. But, the easiest thing to do is to buy new HDD if yours is dead. At least, new hard disks are not expensive. Smile
