I heard that this CPU can score some great results overclocking, something about a new kind of core being used? Is any of that true? How about stability/heat issues, dopes any of that improve? I've never overclocked before, but now I'm tempted – is there a good beginner's guide online that you would recommend? Thanks in advance.

The P4 3.0C doesn't actually use a "new kind of core". IIRC, it was based on a D1 revision of the same Northwood core that all processors from this class used. However, it did prove to be more responsive to OCing than some earlier models. You can find more information at pcstats.com. And for newbie guides to OC, I suggest looking through the FAQs at overclock.net. Good luck.
