I am having trouble closing Outlook. I have noticed that after I close Outlook outlook.exe is still running in process list. I have to manually end this process in task manager to close it. This happens all the time and I do not know what is causing this. This is not a major issue but I fear that I have some malicious software on my computer that is messing with outlook.

If you have scanned your computer with updated antivirus/antispyware then you probably do not have malicious software. Also, this problem is tied with some programs that integrate to Outlook. This can be any antivirus software, faxing software, some outlook add-ons etc. So this is completely safe and does not present any problem at all.
