I’ve been using Outlook Express for a while to check all my e-mail accounts including the one I have with Hotmail. Everything worked fine until I installed SP2 two days ago. Since then I’m unable to receive my Hotmail mails and I get the following message: “Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Hotmail
(nhindry)', Server:'Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Redirected', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x80004005”. Can it be that it’s SP2 related? Or is it something else?

Unfortunately it is something else. It’s exactly what the message says: you can’t use Hotmail anymore. They want you to pay them money, that’s what it is. Microsoft has ended free access to Hotmail Web-based e-mail service through Outlook Express because of the ‘spam abuse’. Yeah, right…I recommend you to transfer to Gmail for example. If you want to, I could send you an invitation.

I have similar problem in the OE 6.0, but this is not the reason that the hotmail has stopped service. Still please invite me for this
Access to the account was denied. Verify that your username and password are correct. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Invalid login.', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC32 |
