Opening ports in ZoneAlarm

Recently I decided to get a firewall and to increase security on my computer. I decided to use Zone Alarm after reading some quality test on internet. Till now I used utorrent for downloading torrent and it always worked fine. When I installed ZoneAlarm all my torrents are set to 0. I read on the web that I need to open ports on my firewall so I can become connectable. How can I do this? Im using Windows XP and my computer is connected to internet with ADSL connection.

You made a good decision to put a firewall and increase your protection. Unfortunately there is a bad side of this, now you are overprotected. But relax there is a way to make firewall protect you as much as you need. Only this is usually manually done. I cant help you much about zone alarm because I personally use Comodo Firewall so I dont know exact settings. But I can try to explain what exactly you need to look for and what you need to change.
Since you said that you are using utorrent, turn it on and go to preferences. Under connections u have option Port used for incoming connections and and u have white box with a number inside. This number is the port u need to open so write it down.
Once you have this number written go to zone alarm settings and try to find setting for opening ports. There you should put this number and everything should work fine.
If you cant find it search the net for zone alarm tutorials or wait maybe somebody else has the answer.
