I have few old games I would like to play on my new computer. As far as I know they require DirectX 3.0 and I have DirectX 9.0c on this computer. Games start but they run too fast (like you watch movie on fast-forward) and they are almost unplayable. Can you give me some hint how to overcome this problem?

I suppose you do not want to install DirectX 3.0, right:)? Only thing I can remember of right now is compatibility mode. Find executable file of the game you like to play and right click on it. Choose Properties from pop-up menu and in window that appears click on Compatibility tab. Choose compatibility mode that suits the game you like to play and click OK. Now you should be able to run this game.
