Hello! I have purchased new hard drive yesterday. I have properly installed, formatted and partitioned it. But, I have noticed that my hard drive has odd capacity. Namely, I have bought Maxtor hard drive 80 GB, but I have seen that it does not have 80 GB. My hard drive is for 1-2 GB smaller. What is this?

Hello! I have to tell you that manufacturers say 10 GB, 20 GB, 80 GB, 160 GB, etc, but this capacity is not true one. They calculate on different way capacity. I mean that they use base 10 system to calculate hard drive capacity. Other devices use base 2 system, so, that is what seemed you odd with your hard drive.
