| I bought a computer three months ago. However, I recently realized that my HDD drive is small and that I need some extra space. For that reason yesterday I bought new SATA HDD. However, when I plug it in my computer, my new sata drive was not recognized. What to do? |

| You should first check did you connect all the cables (signal and power) well on both end. If that is OK, try to reconnect your SATA hard drive to another SATA connector on your motherboard. Also check, do your motherboard support your type of SATA hard drive. I mean that your hard drive may be SATA2 and your motherboard may support only SATA1 hard drives. If you find out that, the only thing you could do is to try to replace your SATA hard drive for some with SATA1 standard. One more thing you should do is to check is your motherboard SATA support enabled in your BIOS. The last thing that could be is that your motherboard needs some special drivers to be installed for full SATA support. |
