Hi there,
Recently I bought Norton Ghost and yesterday I decide to finally install it. I put the disc inside installation window pop ups and everything is going fine. Then somewhere at the end of installation I just get the message "Question The specified service already exists."
After that the installer seems to remove all that he was installing. I never installed Ghost before and Im confused and dont know what to do. I didnt want that kind of ghost, which actually doesnt exist on my computer. Please help me if you can.
This is really strange behavior but dont rush too much and blame it on the ghosts.hehe. If you search Symantec help on their site you can find a way to completely remove ghost from your computer. I wont go into detail because you have good explanation there.
But basically you have to delete manually all files and registry entries. This is a job that will take you a lot of time to do, but it should pay off at the end. If all of this doesnt help you try to install some other version of the program. Also you can try if the same program can be installed in some other (maybe your neighbors) computer. To dont have to go to neighbor I use virtual machine. This enables me to first try if everything is all right with my windows and blame programs after. This is proven to be very usefully in many situations so I recommend it to everybody. I hope you find my answer helpful.
Cheers.
