Well here’s the story: a friend of mine installed Motherboard Monitor software to keep track about cpu and mobo temperatures. I liked that idea so I installed it too. But our temperatures are very much different – he’s getting 45c/35c for his AthlonXP and motherboard respectively, I’m getting 48c/44c for the same processor! So is this case temperature normal?

I don’t think you should worry about the temperature – both temperature values are between the allowed numbers. However, I would personally consider installing an additional case cooler to ensure system stability and prolong computer life. Also, I’d suggest you to check those temperatures in BIOS, because they are more accurate than Motherboard Monitor.
