I am really mad. I have completely lost sound after Audacity installation. I do not know why nor how but after I finished working in Audacity I was left with completely meted system. I have tried reinstalling drivers, I have disable then again enable sound device in device manager, I have uninstalled sound device from device manager and rebooted system and nothing helped. I just can not believe that something like this can happen. Is there any way to repair my sound? I am running Windows XP and have AC97 sound on board.

I do not know what to tell you. You should read some information before you install software. There is lot information on internet, even on Audacity wiki, how Audacity destroys AC97 based sound on Windows XP machines. Unfortunately for you no one has found way to fix this and Audacity development team obviously does not care or does not know how to fix this. Many people reported similar problems and only the can do is to reinstall Windows to have sound again. Of course do not install Audacity again.
