Hello there. I am about to upgrade my old Hewlett Packard Vectra model with a new operating system. I am about to put Windows XP Professional on the machine. I just can’t stand any longer to watch this windows 98, not only that, it won’t work with the USB devices at all. But, I never tried to install any operating system by my self. How hard this can be? Thanks in advance.

If you are talking about 450 mhz model with only 64 mb of ram on it, forget about xp. That machine won’t work at all. At all, means it will work, but you don’t want to know how slow it will be. Regarding Windows XP, you must have at least 256 mb of ram, in order to perform at least two operations without any delay. Better try with some Linux Distribution like Vector SOHO is for example.
