Hello. This is a question from a concerned Internet Explorer user. I hear almost every other day about some new IE security hole. Some of these talks sre confirmed and some are not. Yesterday I heard about new one that can allow remote attacker to gain access to data on my hard drive through Internet Explorer. I would like you to explain it to me if it is a truth.

Security holes in IE are common things and most of stories are true. Also, there are several holes that allow remote attacker to gain access to victim’s files. After all, Internet explorer was unsafe for 284 days in 2006 according to some researchers. This hole you are referring to is tied with IE mishandling certain HTML tags like img, script, object, embed and others. Attacker can use this flaw to write script that will allow him to gain access to files on victim’s hard drive.
