I want to create a home network and now I’m doing a bit of researching in order to find out what is the best NIC card. I’m also wondering whether it is supposed be compatible with other parts of software and which. This is the first time I’m encountering this area and that’s why my questions are not so clear. Thanks.

There is a compatibility issue but as far as I know it’s not with regard to other parts of software but with OS. So, you have to check out the list of compatibility with operative systems. I know that certain cards, such as Netgear WG511 wouldn’t work with neither Windows 2000 or with XP. I don’t know which card to recommend you since there are various experiences. You may browse a bit and see what people say about the model you’re thinking of buying. And one more important thing: it’s not the best solution to install the card yourself and to create the network on your own. And shoe your configuration to the guys at the store you’re going to buy the card so that they could give you a piece of advice.
