| Hello! Netscape was my first browser, too. You are right that Netscape is developed before Internet Explorer. Netscape developed in 1994 with name Mosaic Netscape 0.9. In 1995 Netscape goes to stock market and becomes multimillion company. In the meantime Microsoft starts with Internet Explorer 1.0. Netscape was more popular than Internet Explorer, so, Microsoft decides to give Internet Explorer free with Windows 95 operating system (when you buy installation disc for Microsoft operating system you get Internet Explorer). Because of this Microsoft move, Netscape sued Microsoft and in 1999 won on trial,; but, until 1999 Microsoft had taken lead on market. After some time AOL bought Netscape. But, few weeks ago AOL informed the public that they will stop with offering technical support for Netscape from 01.02.2008. So, this means that Netscape goes to history. |
