Hello. I have bought hard drive for my external USB enclosure. When I plug in this hard drive Windows recognizes USB device correctly but hard drive is not listed in My Computer and device manager. A friend told me that this is because hard drive is not formatted and that hard drive needs to be formated prior to connecting it via USB. I need help with formatting because I can not access this disk at all.

Hello. There is an easy way to format this hard drive. Just connect it to computer directly as your master hard drive via IDE or SATA cable (depending on your motherboard and hard drive). When you connect it this way hard drive will be shown in Windows and you can easily format it from there or you can use some third party tool like Partition Magic for this task.
