I installed Ubuntu from a free Ubuntu linux cd I’ve got. Everything works great, except my Windows! It’s partition remained intact (at least I think so!). I’ve maked room for the ubuntu by shortening another partition and installed it there. However GRUB OS loader was installed on C:\ I think. I get “Windows XP” as an option in GRUB menu, but it fails to start. How to fix this?

Hm, not sure what exactly could cause your issue here, I have the same OS division on my computer, and have no problem with GRUB! Maybe your MBR is broken for some reason? Try inserting the Windows XP install CD, choose Recovery Console on setup, and type “fixmbr” and “fixboot”. I think I saw this helped some guy…
