Hello to everyone. I have to admit that I am a newbie computer user so do not be harsh on me:). I am trying to connect laptop and desktop computer with crossover cable. I have network cards in both computers but I have PCMCIA card only in laptop. Do I need a PCMCIA adapter for my desktop computer also?

Hello there. No, you do not need PCMCIA adapter for desktop computer. PCMCIA is a standard for add on cards on laptops (or desktops, if they have special hardware adapter) and it does not have anything to do with networking. You can install network card in PCMCIA slot, but it is not needed because you have one already in your laptop.
