I have a dual boot computer with windows XP on one, and linux on the other partition. During linux installation my windows partitions were correctly recognized. Linux auto mounts them during boot and I can normally access files on windows partitions, but when I try to write something on them, I get access denied message. I have tried writing on windows partitions also logged as root, but with no success. Can you tell me where the problem is?

Well, there is no problem. You are unenable to write on NTFS file system from linux. As you well know, NTFS is a propriety file system from Microsoft and they are not very eager to release its technical specifications. Enabling writing on NTFS is still in experimental phase and I dont recommend you trying it if you value your data at all. On the other hand, there is commercial NTFS driver for linux which enables you to write on the windows partition.
