I changed some hardware on my machine, adding in among other things an Abit SG-72 motherboard. Now what happens is this: When I enter the BIOS to adjust for new settings, everything seems fine; (I checked the temperature and it's around 30), but when I make the required changes and tell it to save and exit – it freezes. Nothing works, and I have to power it off to start again. Of course, it then prompts me again to enter BIOS and save the settings, and the scenario repeats itself. What could cause this, and what can I do? Thanks for any advice you might have,

Sounds like corrupt BIOS data to me. You'll need to clear the CMOS so you can start fresh. You can do this by shutting , unplugging the power cord, and locating the jumper marked "Clear CMOS" (consult your manual, if necessary). Alternatively, you can try to flash the BIOS – look for a download on the manufacturer's site, copy it to a boot floppy disc, and flash from there.
