| I think it is official now I have a mechanic snail here called computer. It is working very slowly. Absolutely everything takes ages, whether it is opening Windows Explorer, file or starting some program. I really don’t know what to do and what caused this sudden snail effect. Could you maybe explain to me, why so sudden it decided to drives me nuts?! |

| Must say I really feel for you there, been there lost my mind just like you. Honestly I don’t think this kind of complain is that rare, because every PC from the moment that you bought it and bring it home is starting to age, not anymore new as it was with all its default settings that provide it to work properly. When we use PC on every day bases, we are adding or deleting new programs, files very often. At the end those actions lead to poor performance of your PC comparing with the one that was at the beginning, and it can be caused by many reasons. Registry corrupted so PC having the problem running in circle of it’s internal processing, programs running in the background are the 2 biggest reasons for this “going slow” mess. Check what you have working in the background (Alt+Ctrl+Delete) , clean up registry and fix possible registry errors, but must be careful with using any of those programs not to cause even bigger fuss. Some registry cleaning programs ( RegVac available on the net for free) or adware cleaners AdAware or Spybot S&D, any good program that could make more room on your PC is welcomed Very important after longer period of time to perform defragmentation of your PC, so the space on the drive arranges better, because of all deleting some space between the files that are left on your computer is in a way “corrupted” by fragments of the past files, which are actually not there but leaving the illusion of being there, like ghost files, That happens just because computers aren’t that smart and not arranging nor deleting files in strict order. These mentioned actions are leaving the gaps between the files that weren’t planned for deleting. Clean Cookies and temporary files on daily bases. Literally over packed hard drive (not much space left) or over packed with programs and new components adding are usually asking for bigger or better RAM. If you are proud owner of conflicted device drivers can be checked this way: boot the computer in Safe Mode by pressing and holding the F8 key during startup, after the DOS memory check has completed. While you are in the Safe Mode select Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/Devices. Click on all devices for checking up. Any yellow or red exclamation marks by their side indicates a driver conflict and while you are still there determine if there are any duplicate drivers that you should uninstall. If after all this checking and cleaning up your PC is still going slow then maybe you should reinstall OS. In general, it is suggested to perform reinstalling OS from time to time because you are with that action giving your PC a new start from the scratch. |
