Hello! I have bought new hard drive. It is Maxtor and has 160 GB capacity. I have installed it, used Partition Magic 8 for making partitions (actually my brother did that, he mentioned something about Linux and later install some distribution). Brother installed Windows XP, to. But, now in Windows XP it appears that my hard drive is only 100 GB capacity. What my brother did?

Hello! You should not be worried about this. You have mentioned that your brother said that he attend to install some Linux distribution later, right? Well, that it is reason why you cannot see full capacity of your hard drive in Windows XP. Your operating system uses NTFS and Linux EXT3 (usually). So, NTFS cannot see EXT3, but EXT3 can see NTFS. I am sure that you will be able to see full capacity of your hard drive from Linux when your brother install it.
