Hi, all. My problem is, I can't view Quicktime video (.MOV) in Firefox, so I tried the "download missing plugin" option, thinking it'll just install some extension or something, but in the end it said it couldn't find the plugin, and directed me to the Apple website to download it manually. Turns out the only download they offer is packaged with the player and all sorts of extra programs, ending up in a 20+ MB download … and I'm on 56jk dial-up here. I don't want to pull down all that, isn't there an easier way to get this?

Yeah, QuickTime can be anal retentive with that download suite thing, not releasing the plugins separately… Fortunately, there's a way out, and it's borderline-legal too. Google out an download the K-Lite codec pack – it comes with all the browser video plugins you'll need, including the .mov format, and also with the MPC player, the streamlined (and superior) QT. But now that I think of it, I guess the codec pack might be even bigger in size then the QT suite, in which case …
