Im trying to assemble my own computer. Not that I say brand name computers are bad but I just want to have components I wish and to personalize it for my needs. I have bought all essential parts like processor, memory and hard drive except motherboard. That is where I got stacked. There are so many brands and I am not an expert for this. Can you recommend me a few brands just to narrow my choice and to help me not to buy something I would regret later? Just to mention processor is AMD with AM2 slot. Thanks in advance.

Well, there are really a lot of different motherboard manufacturers out there. Telling which one is good and which one is bad is rather ungrateful job. Many of them had some excellent products, but sometimes made severe mistakes. The best thing you could do is to read some reviews on respected hardware sites and read other peoples opinions on forums. But, as you said, to narrow your choice, focus on Asus, Gigabyte, Epox and Abit. These four companies always had very good motherboards and rarely made any mistakes. Personally, I had their motherboards and I was always very satisfied with them. My opinion is that you cant go wrong if you choose any of them.
